Here are a couple of my poems about the "Willoughby's"!

The Wildlife thrives, especially when spring arrives.

Bluebells start to emerge after the winters scourge.

 The woods is filled in a carpet of blue, with daisy, poppy, buttercup and wild garlic too.  Badgers shine black and white;

foxes and owls call through out  the night.

Darkness creeps in, in a world away from mankind and sin,

world so perfect in it's own way,

the wind blows and the oaks begin to sway.

Spring is a time of birth and new life,

separate from a world of mankind's selfishness and strife.

There everything is free;

nature has it's own unity.

The squirrels themselves have many a talents,

swinging and climbing through the tree tops with precise balance.

The foxes patrol day and night,

they sunbathe in the meadows with no man in sight.

The tawny owl calls in this haven at night,

they catch their prey using nocturnal eye sight.

The does and Bucks graze in the meadows with extreme grace,

they depict a tranquil place.

Crickets make their sound,

while the green woodpecker feasts on ants until his heart is abound;

 the kingfisher has eaten all the minnows around;

while the badgers are looking for worms underground.

The river flows wild and free,

it's torrent carries the mink steadily.

Clam shells, crayfish and chubb,

all to be eaten by a hungry mink cub.

The buzzards soar in the sky hunting for prey,

they can't hunt at night, so hunt by day.

The kestrel hovers free in the sky,

ready to take it's prey using it's powerful hawk eye.

The woodcock rodes at dusk and hides by dawn

while the frogs arrive at the pond to lay their spawn.

The grass snake basks in the sun,

then slithers away when he is done.

The Willoughby's stole my heart,

from it I shall never be apart.

It's my home and shelter to here I will always return

but it's the wildlife's trust you have to earn.

MARVELS OF THE NIGHT...

...The wonders of the night are a mysterious, yet spectacular sight.

There is beauty yet for man to behold.

The tempreture drops in a world so cold.

All these marvels of nature happening right under our nose

but man is unaware...for he is in a doze.

Tawny owls hoot and cry through out the stary night sky.

The stars twinkle sparkle and shine,

against a black sky endless in time.

To behold a sky so awe-inspiring,

one in which beauty is never tiring.

Jupiter, Pluto and Mars

are to be found shinning far brighter than the stars.

Foxes plead and cry, calling for a mate,

there is an eerie quietness...so much so that you can hear your heart rate.

The grass gets covered in frost and dew,

badgers and hedgehogs emerge with much to do.

 the crickets make their sound.

It is very quiet with no man around.

The river trickles and flows,

the mink won't fight the torrent, he follows it where ever it goes.

Many things happen at night,

all of which are out of sight.

While man is asleep blissfully unaware,

the mink will be emerging from it's lair.

 The rodents scurry and squeak

 until dawn reaches it's peak.

The fox is king to many a sound,

the glow worms glow green on the ground.

The tawny owl swoops and catches it's prey,

the barn owl waits to hunt by first day.

At dusk the deer gather together to graze,

this beholds much beauty to amaze.

While man is stuck behind four walls in his room,

just out of sight is a loyal glow from the moon.

 The moon illuminates the ground

for all the animals to abound.

The secrets of the night,

gives it it's charm and delight.

There is so much of the night we will never see or know

but that's no excuse to keep our heads low.

Indulge your passion, explore, go out and see,

for compared to the night sky you are as small as can be.
